Following on from Greens MP Adam Bandt’s  speech in the House of Reps this morning, (click here to download) he moved an amendment in the House that the National Radioactive Waste Management Bill be deferred until the first recommendation of the inquiry is undertaken and traditional owners are consulted.

The Senate inquiry recommendation No. 1—that … as soon as possible the Minister for Resources Energy and Tourism undertake consultations with all parties with an interest in or who would be affected by a decision to select the Muckaty Station site as the location for the national radioactive waste facility.
